The high-tech lifestyles of Millennials have either pushed them into economic and business savvy greatness or made them too complacent to take on life’s challenges. in 2019, Millennials will be the largest U.S. Generation as 77 million Boomers approach old age and retirement. But are the next generations strong enough and prepared to meet the challenge?
America is polarized by relentless banter on radio, TV, and the internet. Mainstream media allows “talking heads” to make their case for/against impeachment by repeating the same words and phrases approved by their “corporate” bosses. It’s like watching a movie in fast motion where no one can really follow the storyline. It’s not only maddening, it’s intentional. Information overload is the perfect tool for creating followers, instead of thinkers. When people aren’t willing to listen, discussion stops, and sides are chosen. Less citizen participation means politicians get their way. The only recourse is to understand the system. After all, IT’S YOUR SYSTEM!!
Climate Change and Global Warming are facts that have impacted our planet for many millions of years- long before life (human or otherwise) existed. In 2006, Al Gore focused on skewing those facts in his documentary: “An Inconvenient Truth”. He succeeded in militarizing and politicizing a natural phenomenon to an uninformed public. Now, Climate Change and Global Warming puppeteers have a new “Al Gore” in Greta Thunberg- a teenage climate change activist who is making victimhood its political ally. Perhaps it’s all that “hot air” that’s causing this alleged “global warming”? Something to think about…
The life cycle from young to old is filled with challenges and rewards. The “OK Boomer” movement, like other past generational movements, creates generational identity and solidarity but also distracts from necessary conversation. As a boomer, I recognize the need for ushering in a New America; we did the same in the 1960’s. Let’s show some respect for our humanity, enjoy the ride into progress, and remember that the youth of today are the boomers of tomorrow.

Are they aware that the intention of our Founding Fathers was for this nation to be a representative republic and utterly detested the idea of a proper “democracy”? Did you know that the word “democracy” is not even mentioned in the Declaration of Independence OR the U.S. Constitution? Why? Because the United States was founded as a republic… NOT a democracy.
