Sal Martingano Professional Biography

Failure is a part of the success process, since one can never appreciate success unless you experience the lessons of failure. As a first wave baby boomer, without the benefits of modern technology, “trying” was not an option. Success depended on mastering the “doing”, and second chances were rare. Dr. Sal was mentored by great motivational speakers allowing him to bring that “can do” spirit into every speaking engagement- leaving his audiences uplifted with that one special message they may not have considered. Whether speaking at schools, conferences, book signings, or political events, his message is his passion.

Dr. Sal’s first book, “The Declaration of Dependence… A Betrayal of the American Dream” is designed to speak to the casually informed citizens of our country. The book is not designed as a “text” but instead, a reference guide to the current political and constitutional challenges we now face. The book details “Media and the Government”– unraveling the complex and often intentionally confusing terminology in today’s political landscape. One no longer needs to be a Political Science major to interpret the massive changes taking place in America. Dr. Sal also provides needed solutions for better decision making.

Dr. Sal’s second book: “Boys of Brooklyn… A Time When Life Never Sucked” is a tribute to the baby boomer generation, based on actual experiences with five life-long “boomer” friends growing up in Brooklyn, New York. The book is filled with real experiences that will make you laugh out loud or cringe at the inevitable tragedies we faced. This book is “playwright” material for the entire family to enjoy.

“When the student is ready, the teacher appears” is a favorite saying of Dr. Sal. A “doctor” is the highest level of achievement in a specialized area of expertise and is the Latin derivative for “teacher”. As a doctor, Sal is an educator with the unique ability to make the complex easy to understand.

With over 40 years of combined teaching experience, Dr. Sal is a sought-after motivational speaker for continuing education and community organizations large or small. He is an avid historian, researcher and author with topics ranging from healthcare to politics; “It is more important to teach people HOW to think independently, rather than WHAT to think collectively.” Dr. Sal is a refreshing, entertaining, informative and engaging speaker.

As a card-carrying Italian baby boomer from Bensonhurst Brooklyn, Dr. Sal experienced American life as it was meant to be; raw, exciting and filled with adventure. Being allowed to fail without ridicule allowed for developing educational and economic successes, based on self-reliance and strong family bonds; traits disappearing in today’s America.

Brooklyn was the home of many celebrities like: Mel Brooks, Adam Sandler, Joan Rivers, Eddie Murphy, Woody Allen, Jerry Seinfeld, Dom DeLuise, and Buddy Hackett just to name a few. Yes, Brooklyn also produced some of better-known Italian names like the Gambino, Genovese, Lucchese and Bonanno crime families but hey, it also produced “this” Italian from Brooklyn.

Dr. Sal personifies the essence of the American lifestyle. His upbringing as a first wave baby boomer from Brooklyn, New York was one of self-reliance, trust and adventure. Boy Scouts developed early leadership skills that later proved invaluable in providing community service projects that encouraged independent thinking and entrepreneurship opportunities for young adults. Understanding the value of life’s lessons, Dr. Martingano was a perpetual student, developing communication skills that dominated his early adulthood, leading him to an early career as a Graphic Arts & Communication high school teacher and later, owner of his own Graphic Arts studio. Dr. Martingano also became a musician and a proud carrier of a “Cabaret License”, a requirement of the time, allowing him to play in public locations like nightclubs, weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and where entertainment took place. Later in life, Dr. Martingano retired from teaching and became a Doctor of Chiropractic, where he put his healing, teaching and communication talents to maximum use. As a motivational speaker and health expert, he became Vice President of communications for Radical Products International. His communication skills were further enhanced logging 21 years of radio and cable TV broadcasting, providing valuable patient education and mentorship for our next generation.

Dr. Sal earned an Associate Degree from Staten Island Community College. He entered the Electrical Engineering Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program at City University of New York (CCNY) but changed, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He continued to earn two Master’s degrees from CCNY in Education and Administration and Supervision. Years later he returned to school earning a Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic from Sherman College of Chiropractic in South Carolina. He also has advanced certification in Radiology and is a Fellow of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
