When Constitutional Principles are Weaponized, Our Republic is in Grave Danger

The recent spectacle of impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump should give every American pause. The 2016 election of Donald Trump, like the 1982 election of Ronald Reagan, have a few things in common. Both men were Republican and both men had vast business backgrounds outside the usual confines of career politicians; i.e., no political baggage. 

Both men recognized that liberalism is a stepping stone to socialism, already in play since the 1930’s with the “New Deal” and “Great Society” programs. Both men prospered from free enterprise and capitalism, the basis of our country’s founding’s and the antithesis of a dependent society envisioned by the “New World Order” concept of the modern Democratic Party.

• We are witnessing the demise of our country’s foundation when a congressional leader like Nancy Pelosi finds it politically appropriate to bow to radical forces like “The Squad”. Pelosi cleverly saved political face by publicly announcing an impeachment “inquiry” which technically means nothing more than what the DNC is already doing.

A Brief History About Impeachment

Impeachment is a very serious process in American politics. It has only been used twice due to the extraordinary burden of proof. Only the most serious of offenses should ever be pursued for the impeachment of a president. These are clearly spelled out in the Constitution of the United States as: “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”

The burden of proof rests on the House of Representatives and must be likewise approved and voted upon by the Senate, to be enacted.  To date, only Presidents Andrew Jackson and Bill Clinton, (who had 7 guilty crimes brought against him) have been impeached by the House of Representatives. Neither were removed from office using the impeachment process by the Senate.

The Pelosi Announcement to Begin Impeachment “Inquiry” Against Trump

Let’s Remember: WORDS HAVE MEANING…

Nancy Pelosi’s announcement to begin an impeachment “inquiry” before seeing any proof of impeachable offenses is unprecedented.

 Pelosi’s inquiry announcement is not an “investigation”.  There are six House committees already investigating the president. They must report their findings to the House Judiciary Committee to make the decision if formal articles of impeachment should be filed.

 Impeachment is not a “legal trial” but a “political trial”.

Let’s Look at the Facts in this Impeachment Inquiry:

1. It is based on an anonymous whistle blower’s 2^nd hand account of what was heard on the president’s phone call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
   
2. The whistle blower is a career CIA operative who dislikes Trump.
   
3. The whistle blower sent a ‘confidential’ statement of concern to Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz, who by law, must protect the whistle blower’s anonymity.
   
4. The whistle blower’s complaint gets leaked to the Washington Post and the public.
   
5. The House Intelligence Committee receives the transcript of the president’s call to the Ukraine president and chooses to hold an open investigative hearing before the media and the public instead of behind closed doors.
   
6. Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Joseph Maguire is questioned by House Intelligence Committee, chaired by Congressman Adam Schiff.

What’s at the Heart of this “Inquiry”?

The impeachment inquiry is oddly about the misdeeds of Joe Biden. While V.P., he threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid to the Ukraine unless they fired an investigator who was about to bring charges against his son Hunter for corruption.

Joe Biden publicly admitted he strong-armed the Ukrainian government, using allotted tax-payers money as his leverage; a blatant impeachable offense that was never pursued.

Trump’s Ukrainian call transcript indicated he mentioned the Biden affair but Ukrainian president Zelensky publicly stated Trump did not pressure him in any way for ‘oppositional’ help.

Trump’s temporary withholding of recent U.S. military aid to the Ukraine is yet unverified but the administration alluded to sensitive usage issues that were not properly spelled out, which is presidential prerogative not an impeachable offense.

The Dirty Game of Politics

Adam Schiff’s opening remarks were reminiscent of a great Saturday Night Live Skit when he decided to re-write the transcript of the call provided by the president, to make Trump sound like a mafia mob boss:

“I’m going to say this only seven times, so you better listen good, I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand, lots of it, on this and on that, I’m going to put you in touch with people.”

Schiff Brushed it Off as a “Parody”… Sure it was, Adam!

The hearing seemed designed to get DNI Maguire to make admissions that can be publicly used as sound bites in the biased press.  Almost every democratic committee member began with the statement: “Acting Director Maguire, would you agree with me that…”  An obvious attempt to trip up Maguire.

After 3 hours it appeared obvious that the Democrats were finding ways of twisting public documents to fit their narrative to do whatever it takes to impeach Trump.

It is my opinion that all previous failed attempts at impeaching Trump have been proven without merit. The Ukrainian incident represents the next attempt.
 
It is the right of the congress to uphold the nations laws but must be held accountable for blatant hypocrisy.

Pelosi herself stated: “No one is above the law”, yet democrats have totally ignored both the Biden and Hillary actual illegal activities.

Sad indeed.
